Hi iamsville,
I don't have any photos or drawings but I can tell you that the chainplate backing on my M26 are just pieces of plywood, about 15mm thick and maybe 150x100mm (from memory), sealed and painted to protect them from moisture.

Dropping the mast
I had a minor disaster on Sunday and hope you can give me some advice. I've been gradually replacing all the running rigging on the boat over the past months. I'd replaced a number of lines without trouble so far. The last to be done was the headsail halyard and, as luck would have it, I'd got it ...

Re: Open sea capability
This is obviously a well read topic with much interest in it! I have done negigible blue water sailing and never in an IF or in storms so won't add any comments. What I can add (for any who, like me hadn't seen it) is a blog I came across a few days ago about a crossing from England to Australia in ...

Re: In or out?
Thanks for all the responses, that's fantastic info. I've been away lately and haven't been to the boat for probably a month or more... I don't recall Sundancer having a shorter jib track such as those you mention. But if she doesn't then it's a simple enough job to install some. Certainly seems ...

In or out?
Folks, Still another newbie question... this time on jib sheets. Do you rig yours inside or outside the shrouds? Mine are currently outboard of the shrouds. Comparing with another M26 in our area and his are the same, outboard of the shrouds. But it looks wrong. The jib leads are aft of the ...

Re: Inboard diesels
Hi Marek, A previous boat of mine (not an IF) had a transom mounted bracket on which the outboard lived. The problem that I found was that the weight of the outboard suspended aft of the stern tended to cause the stern to bury itself and drag. This was a much lighter boat (only around 600 kg ...

Re: Mast height
Thanks for your replies everyone. You've confirmed for me that I should say clear of that mooring. I've since applied for a mooring on the Parramatta River in Sydney Harbour. The only bridges I'll need to go under are 20+ metres. No problems there!

Mast height
Hi everyone, Hope you don't mind but I have another newbie question for you. Essentially, I am just trying to work out the height of the mast above the water line for my M26. I am looking at a potential permanent mooring spot but it would mean passing under a bridge that has 11.5 metres clearance ...

Thanks, maja. That's an excellent resource - well explained, logical and easy to implement too.

Rig tension
Hi everyone, I recently purchased a nice little M26 which I am very happy with. But last weekend, I was laying in the v-berth looking up through our foredeck hatch and noticed that the mast has a bend to port above the spreaders. So the starboard capshrouds need a bit more tension. Or the port ...
